Juventus open talks with Tottenham over midfielder

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has tonight revealed that Juventus have made contact with Tottenham over Mousa Dembele.

Complete midfielder

Dembele, 30, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest midfielders over the last couple of seasons, with his performances in the Champions League versus the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus this past season having only served to back the long-standing opinions of Spurs fans across the globe, in that the Belgian international is a genuine world-class performer.

In fact, so impressive was Dembele during his side’s European ventures before their eventual elimination at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League’s round of 16 back in March, that a number of the continent’s giants are said to have since added the Tottenham man to their summer transfer wish-lists.

Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli have been named as the clubs most interested in a swoop for Dembele.

Worrying

After being questioned on his club future by reporters at the end of March, Dembele, who’s contract is set to expire next summer, first moved to reassure Tottenham’s fans by expressing his happiness in the English capital, before surprisingly casting doubt on his situation by revealing that the recently-finished campaign could be his last with Spurs:

‘At this moment, I am very happy at Tottenham. I do not lie when I say that I do not think about a big transfer. I want to play a World Cup and afterwards we will see.’

‘Really, I’m not aware of the interest of other clubs. And, besides, I told my agent to wait for the summer to tell me about any offers. For now, I’m only focussing on Tottenham. Maybe this is my last season or maybe I’ll sign a new deal. We’ll see.’

Serie A bound?

As such, rumours have since been rife, particularly in Italy, that Dembele will indeed be on the move over the coming months.

And, as per the aforementioned update from Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have tonight made first contact with Tottenham for information on Dembele’s price-tag and more.

The Belgian is thought to be available for around 30 million Euro, with Di Marzio adding that all of Napoli, Inter Milan and the Chinese Super League are also options for Dembele this summer.
